I was meant to be the Strongest Girl in the World. At least, that was my plan. Sadly though, when I was a child, we did not have the Power Puff Girls or Xena Warrior Princess as examples. So I was sent off to school where I learned how to calculate the hypotenuse of a triangle and other foolishness. I never learned how to leap fifty feet into the trees with a knife between my teeth or to swing nimbly from limb to limb like my hero Lord Greystoke. I was not taught how to speak with mighty Tantor. Luckily my school taught me reading and writing and art, and I use those skills to create a world where I DO get to be the Strongest Girl in the World. At least for a little while. So now I make up stories and pictures for VERY Important People- the people who understand that they are destined to live magnificent, colorful lives full of adventure and wonder. My experience is that many of these VIPs are too young to drive. |

And even though I was never taught how to speak properly with the animals, I have learned the tiniest little bit of Bird. It certainly isn't what I had hoped for, but it will have to do for now. | |||||||||
Professional ExperienceI graduated in 1995 from Western Washington University with an art degree. I have worked since that time creating artwork for the children's market, receiving recognition for several of my books. In addition to painting, I have also begun writing, publishing my first authored book, My Favorite Bear, in 2003. I also spend a great deal of time doing school visits, as meeting with and inspiring children is probably the absolute best thing about this job! |
