I was meant to be the Strongest Girl in the World. At least, that was my plan. Sadly though, when I was a child, we did not have the Power Puff Girls or Xena Warrior Princess as examples. So I was sent off to school where I learned reading and writing and how to calculate the hypotenuse of a triangle and other foolishness. I never learned how to leap fifty feet into the trees with a knife between my teeth or to swing nimbly from limb to limb like my hero Lord Greystoke. I was not taught how to speak with mighty Tantor.

Instead, I was instructed to pursue jobs in small cubicles where I couldn't even see the sky. I learned how to fill out form X10-15B and how to nod knowingly and pretend I was listening.

But I wasn't very good at it.

So now I make up stories and pictures for VERY Important People- the people who understand that they are destined to live magnificent, colorful lives full of adventure and wonder. My experience is that many of these VIPs are too young to drive.

And even though I was never taught how to speak properly with the animals, I have learned the tiniest little bit of Bird. It certainly isn't what I had hoped for, but it will have to do for now.

Professional Experience

I graduated in 1995 from Western Washington University with a degree in illustration. I have worked since that time creating artwork for the children's market, receiving recognition for several of my books. In addition to painting, I have also begun writing, publishing my first authored book, My Favorite Bear, in 2003. I also spend a great deal of time doing school visits, as meeting with and inspiring children is probably the absolute best thing about this job!
