WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SCHOOL VISIT?

 

We have fun! We learn!

My current presentation includes an entertaining slide show covering aspects of the creative process, sources of inspiration, and helpful tips in writing and drawing. I also engage the students in a fun and silly exercise that demonstrates the editing process through a series of nonsense poems. Additionally, I like to collaborate with the students in an interactive drawing exercise.

I intend to leave inspired, informed, and thoroughly entertained students in the wake of any school visit! Increasing students' confidence in their creative self-expression is one of the greatest joys in my life as an artist and writer, and I would love the opportunity to meet with your school's young authors.

HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE?

 

A full day's visit is $600, and can include as many as 5 sessions. I find that doing many smaller presentations is much more engaging for everyone than a large school assembly.

Special bargain for 2008-2009 school year: I am offering a $100 discount for each school when schools within 50 miles of each other book me for consecutive days. In other words, if you sign up for the day before or after a school near to you, you both get $100 off. What a deal!

 

WHERE WILL YOU TRAVEL?

I will travel ANYWHERE to do these visits. In fact, hey, I've always wanted to see Rome....but I do charge travel expenses for anywhere outside Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, or Montana.
